MDS announces Agile Data Integration Framework

MDS announced that its Agile Data Integration Framework has been implemented by the Mobile Advertising Alliance. The Mobile Advertising Alliance (MAA) showcased its new advertising platform solution - based on best of breed software components - at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. The data integration framework that underpins the new MAA platform has been provided by MDS.

In the past 10 years mobile networks have evolved from homogeneous voice only networks to what today is a heterogeneous mix of access technologies such as 2.5G & 3G packet data networks and wireless broad band “hot spots”. In addition a complex service layer has been introduced which provides capabilities such as location finding and multimedia messaging upon which sophisticated end user services can be developed. While this leap in capability brings great revenue potential it also introduces new operational problems for network operators the most critical of which is dynamic data management.

Network operators now have multiple access networks containing physically & logically disparate data stores. Current market pressures are forcing network operators to offer services which span multiple access networks and service layer capabilities. Services which can leverage multi access networks and provide new end subscriber applications, and therefore additional revenue streams for the network operator, require access to a unified subscriber profile. In spite of this requirement no mechanisms for rationalising related data from these data sources exists today.

The MDS M-Serve™ Profile Server addresses this problem by consolidating all static and dynamic data a network operator has for a subscriber. M-Serve™ creates a relationship between the many different identities a subscriber has for different service access networks and presents it in a consistent manner. By reducing the cost and complexity of consolidating this data M-Serve™ enables a new generation of network independent convergent services

What is the M-Serve Profile Server
The M-Serve™ Profile Server is an enabling telecommunications infrastructure solution that consolidates subscriber and service information across 2G, 2.5G, 3G, fixed line and wireless broadband networks. M-Serve™ includes a range of protocol adaptors that source data from standards based heterogeneous data stores in the network. Non-standard data stores and back office systems can be rapidly integrated through a powerful system integrator toolkit. All static and dynamic subscriber and service data is intelligently consolidated and made available to applications from a single source. M-Serve™ creates a relationship between the many different identities a subscriber has for different service access networks thereby creating a richer subscriber profile. By providing simple, configurable, policy based access to all known subscriber data and preferences, M-Serve™ enables the rapid rollout of innovative user centric converged network services.
